of the Benefaction Committee of the Swiss Benevolent Society.
The Swiss Benefaction Committee is proud of its longstanding tradition of assisting people of Swiss descent who are in financial need. In general, our applicants are elderly, on a limited income, or people with new onset disabilities.
Following financial
and social assessment, applicants may qualify for any of the following
benefits:
- One Time Financial Stipend – i.e. to cover unexpected medical expenses;
- Monthly Financial Stipends – i.e. to supplement pensions and social security benefits;
- Link To Community Resources – i.e. senior housing, senior centers, Mayor’s office for the elderly;
- Link To State And Federal Agencies – i.e. Medicaid and Medicare.

Beneficiaries
Barbara
Frei and Sam Burckhardt visited the beneficiaries through-out
the year and tried to help address some of their concerns. We
delivered
the Christmas checks from SBS, hand-made cookies, and good wishes
from
the society. Barbara and Sam remain in contact with the beneficiaries
in 2006 to monitor their situations.
Senior Member Gatherings
Barbara
and Sam attended some of the monthly gatherings, and found them
well attended and well liked by all participants. The monthly get-togethers
at Svithiod Lodge are sponsored by SBS and organized by Walter & Emily
Peyer.
Inquiries
The
chair received two requests for support, however, neither party
pursued the application any further.
