In Memoria

Welcome to the homepage of the Membership and Program Committee of the Swiss Benevolent Society. We invite anyone, Swiss, Americans, friends of Switzerland, individuals, couples, families or corporations interested in supporting our activities to become a member of our Society.

The Foundation has been dedicated to addressing the needs of the Swiss Community in the greater Chicago area for over 125 years. Your donations will help us to aid our community in the following categories:

  • Monthly stipends to elderly or handicapped persons of Swiss descent residing in the greater Chicago area; funding of senior member gatherings.
  • Undergraduate collegiate scholarship grants to students of Swiss descent, having permanent residence in the Greater Chicago area, the state of Illinois or parts of Wisconsin, awarded by annual competition.
  • Funding assistance for special events of cultural and other nature directly related to our Swiss heritage or benefiting the Chicago area Swiss Community at large, as far as tax laws permit it.

Becoming a Member

If you would like to become a member, please check out our Donor Categories and download a Membership Application Form.

Programs and other Events

Programs offered to our membership and the greater Chicago community at large are in conjunction with events and activities sponsored by our Society benefiting Culture, Education, and Benefaction. We offer co-sponsorship in compatible events promoting Swiss heritage and culture. We are committed to expand our programs to attract a wider culturally affluent audience to create higher awareness of our activities among the greater Chicago community, charities and foundations. Check out What's New to find a current schedule of programs and events.
